Job Purpose
To deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high standards across both the shopfloor and deli area. The role involves food preparation, stock replenishment, hygiene compliance, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for all customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to all customers
- Assist customers with queries and product selection
- Operate tills and handle payments accurately
Deli Duties
- Prepare and serve hot and cold food in line with company standards
- Ensure food safety, freshness, and presentation at all times
- Monitor food temperatures and complete all HACCP records
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area
Shopfloor Duties
- Replenish stock and ensure shelves are fully stocked and well presented
- Rotate stock in line with FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures
- Check deliveries and report any discrepancies
- Ensure pricing and labels are accurate and visible
Health & Safety / Hygiene
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
- Keep all work areas clean and hazard-free
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations
- Support other areas of the store when required
- Participate in training and development as needed
Skills & Requirements
- Previous retail or deli experience is an advantage but not essential
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good attention to detail and hygiene standards
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends if required
