About Errigal Operations Software
Errigal Operations Software develops mission-critical network management solutions used to monitor, manage, and automate telecommunications infrastructure. Our software is relied upon by customers to manage complex communications networks where reliability, performance, and quality are essential.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Software Developer with approximately 2 years of commercial experience who is eager to develop their skills while working on challenging, real-world software systems.
The Role
As part of our engineering team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of our flagship Network Management System. This role provides exposure to both backend and frontend development, modern software engineering practices, AI-assisted development tools, and enterprise-scale applications.
You will work closely with experienced engineers in an Agile Scrum environment and participate throughout the full software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Support and enhance a mission-critical Network Management application.
- Develop new features using Java and TypeScript.
- Work on both backend and frontend components.
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL database functionality.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborative software design.
- Perform regression testing on all developed features prior to release.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve customer-reported software issues.
- Work within an Agile Scrum team, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to improving software quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Use modern AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code to improve productivity and software quality.
Required Skills
- Approximately 2 years' commercial software development experience.
- Strong Java development skills.
- Experience developing with TypeScript.
- Solid SQL database experience (required).
- Comfortable working on both frontend and backend development.
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles.
- Experience using Git or another version control system.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to perform regression testing on developed functionality.
- Experience working within a Scrum or Agile development environment.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with the Spring Framework or Spring Boot.
- Experience developing REST APIs.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Experience with Docker or containerised development.
- Exposure to telecommunications, networking, or network management systems.
