Job Purpose
The role of the Maintenance Fitter/ Welder is to provide support to all areas within the business for installation, maintenance and repairs, as well as the replacement of parts and servicing of parts in accordance with a planned Maintenance Schedule across Shannon and Foynes operations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Participates in preventative maintenance checks, services and general maintenance/repairs in both Shannon & Foynes
- Carrying out of servicing / running maintenance of equipment
- Repair, removal and replacement of components or systems
- Carrying out modifications or inspections in accordance with specified instructions
- Keeps their work environment clean and organised
- Engaging in cross skilling duties where required
- Fault-finding and defect rectification
- Operation of electronic testing equipment and other hand tools in accordance with instructions
- Maintain repair and service records using Preventative Maintenance Software
- Completion of all duties in a safe manner
- This is a physically demanding, primarily outdoor role within a chemical manufacturing plant environment.

Person Specification
Education
- FETAC Level 6 accreditation or equivalent including but not limited to Solas (formally FÁS) apprenticeship, City & Guilds apprenticeship or higher
- (TIG) Aluminium Weld Course
Professional Experience
- Proven experience within a production maintenance environment is essential.
- Proven experience of TIG Welding is essential.
- Working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of pipework and mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals
- Broad knowledge of Centrifugal & Diaphragm pumps would be an advantage
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components
- Installation of heavy industrial machinery an advantage.
- Concern for safe working practices, quality and the environment are essential requirements
- Ability to read drawings, follow detailed work instructions and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good numerical ability.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a problem-solving attitude.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates must already possess the right to work in the EU.
