We are currently recruiting for Full-Time Senior Occupational Therapist for Beaumont Lodge Transitional Care Unit, Coolock, Dublin 5.
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the clinical leadership, development, coordination and delivery of a high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy Service within Beaumont Lodge Transitional Care Unit and other Bartra Healthcare locations as required.
The post holder will act as the clinical lead for Occupational Therapy services within the unit and will provide specialist assessment, intervention, rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients presenting with physical, cognitive, functional and some psychosocial needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as Lead Occupational Therapist within their designated service area and provide professional leadership across Bartra Healthcare Occupational Therapy Services.
- Be responsible for maintaining high standards of Occupational Therapy practice and clinical governance within areas of responsibility.
- Support the Director of Allied Health in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services.
- Promote evidence-based practice, innovation and continuous service improvement.
- Participate as a lead clinician in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, family meetings and care planning reviews.
- Communicate assessment findings, intervention plans and recommendations effectively to patients, families, multidisciplinary teams and other relevant professionals.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with professional, CORU legal GDPR and organisational standards.
- Contribute to recruitment, induction and retention of Occupational Therapy staff.
- Support staff in managing complex clinical cases and decision-making processes.
- Promote reflective practice, professional accountability and continuous learning.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for appointment must:-
- Hold a Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Please see list of acceptable Occupational Therapy qualifications:- https://coru.ie/files-registration/hse-list-of-physitherapist-qualificatoins.pdf
- Be registered on the Occupational Therapist Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU
- Candidates must have three years fulltime (or an aggregate of three years fulltime) post qualification clinical experience
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability in the area of older persons Occupational Therapy stroke rehabilitation (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
Other Requirements Specific to the Post
- Minimum of 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to care of the older person, rehabilitation, or acute medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work at Senior Occupational Therapist level, including autonomous caseload management.
- Previous experience supervising Staff Grade Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, and students.
- Full Drivers’ licence and access to a car.
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate qualifications or training in rehabilitation, older persons care or orthopaedics.
- Evidence of leadership, management or mentoring training.
- Strong IT and documentation skills.
