Johnstown Recycling is a busy, fully licensed recycling and resource recovery yard outside Mullingar. Weprocess food waste, green waste, glass, cardboard and paper, run an in-vessel composting facility, andproduce compost and soil products. We're a small, hands-on team — everyone gets stuck in.
The Role
We're looking for an honest, reliable, hardworking all-round Yard Operative for our busy recycling yard.You'll keep material moving through the yard, operate a range of mobile plant, help with light farm workwhen needed, and muck in with the rest of the team to keep the place running.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operating yard plant day-to-day: JCB, teleporter, tractor, wheel loader, screener, and diet feeders.
- Loading, moving and tipping incoming material (food waste, green waste, glass, cardboard, paper) into and out of processing equipment.
- Manual work alongside machine work: sorting material, removing contaminants, clearing blockages, sweeping down, hosing off pads, general housekeeping.
- Loading outbound products (compost, soil, baled recyclate) for customers and hauliers.
- Daily pre-start checks, greasing, refuelling and basic operator-level upkeep on the machines; flagging anything that needs the fitter.
- Light farm work on occasion — straightforward jobs that fit alongside the yard role.
- Working safely with the rest of the yard team, following site procedures and PPE rules at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Genuine hands-on experience operating JCB, teleporter, tractor and diet feeders (please mention each one you've operated and roughly how long).
- Mechanically minded — comfortable doing your own greasing, checks and basic fixes, and quick to spot when something's not right.
- Honest, reliable and hardworking — turns up, gets on with it, takes pride in the work.
- A team player who works well with others and pitches in where needed.
- Physically fit for outdoor yard work year-round.
- Own transport to work (the site isn't on a public-transport route).
- Full clean driving licence.
- Right to work in Ireland / the EEA.
Pay: From €16.00 per hour
