About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our catering team. This is a part-time position involving a combination of weekend and weekday hours. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality food service within a busy school dining hall and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Arches Café.
Hours: Primarily weekend work, with additional weekday hours available as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of food and beverages in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Support the service of meals to students, staff, and visitors in a busy school dining environment.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen and serving area at all times.
- Carry out cleaning duties, including washing equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas following service.
- Assist with food preparation, service, and clean-down duties within the Arches Café.
- Replenish food and beverage supplies as required during service periods.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and food hygiene regulations.
- Provide a friendly, professional, and customer-focused service to all customers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues whilst also being able to manage tasks independently.
Requirements
- Ideally 1-2 years' experience in a catering, hospitality, café, or food service environment.
- Ability to work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food presentation.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and occasional weekday shifts.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety practices is desirable.
