Select Fabrications is recruiting an experienced Production Manager to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality operation of our metal fabrication workshop in Allenwood, County Kildare.
This is a hands-on, workshop-based position with responsibility for production planning, team leadership, quality control, machinery utilisation and on-time delivery.
The role would suit an experienced Production Manager, Fabrication Manager, Workshop Manager or Senior Fabrication Supervisor with strong technical knowledge of light-gauge sheet metal fabrication, MIG and TIG welding, CNC machinery, press brakes and production planning.

Since 2021, Select Fabrications has established itself as a specialist CE-certified manufacturing partner to Ireland’s construction and engineering sectors, with a growing presence in Europe.
Our Allenwood production facility provides end-to-end capabilities in metal pressing and bending, CNC profile cutting, powder coating, welding and the manufacture of structural and architectural metalwork systems.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager will lead a team of at least five workshop operatives and take ownership of day-to-day production performance.
The successful candidate will be actively involved on the workshop floor, providing clear direction, resolving technical and production issues, and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and in line with agreed delivery dates.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage production from approved drawings and customer requirements through to finished product and dispatch.
- Prepare daily and weekly production schedules and allocate labour, machinery, materials and tooling.
- Coordinate workflow across CNC profile cutting, pressing and bending, welding and fabrication, powder coating and finishing.
- Monitor production progress and take prompt action to address delays, bottlenecks or capacity constraints.
- Lead, support and develop workshop operatives, setting clear standards for performance, quality, attendance, behaviour and teamwork.
- Ensure employees are appropriately trained, competent and authorised to undertake their assigned work.
- Maintain high standards of workshop health and safety, machine safety, PPE, housekeeping and compliance with safe systems of work.
- Ensure finished products meet approved drawings, specifications, tolerances, quality procedures and applicable CE-certification requirements.
- Manage in-process and final inspections, product traceability, non-conformances, defects and rework.
- Work closely with Design, Commercial, Procurement, Logistics and Project teams to coordinate priorities, materials and delivery commitments.
- Control the use of materials and consumables while reducing waste, scrap and avoidable rework.
- Coordinate planned and responsive maintenance of production machinery, tooling and extraction systems.
- Monitor production performance, including output, labour utilisation, on-time delivery, downtime, quality, rework, scrap and overtime.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to workshop layout, workflow, machinery utilisation and production methods.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, maintenance, training and performance records.
Essential Requirements
- Trade-qualified fabricator or experienced fabricator with at least five years’ relevant fabrication experience.
- Strong experience in light-gauge sheet metal fabrication.
- At least two years’ experience supervising or managing a fabrication workshop or similar manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience in MIG and TIG welding of aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel.
- Experience operating or overseeing CNC machinery, including plasma cutting, press brakes and long-length bending equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication details, dimensions and tolerances.
- CAD proficiency, preferably AutoCAD.
- Experience in production planning, resource allocation and fabrication quality control.
- Strong knowledge of workshop health and safety, machine safety and safe systems of work.
- Proven ability to lead employees, set standards, manage performance and create an accountable team environment.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

- Powder-coating operations and quality control.
- CE-certified fabrication and manufacturing quality systems.
- Material identification and traceability.
- Lean manufacturing, 5S or continuous-improvement methods.
