About the Role
Cooper International Horse Transport is seeking a reliable and experienced General Horse Yard Operative to assist with the day-to-day running and maintenance of our busy equine yard.
This is a hands-on position that requires previous experience working with horses and a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the yard, caring for horses, and ensuring our horse trucks and facilities are kept to the exceptionally high standards expected by Gavin and the wider Cooper International team.
Key Responsibilities
Horse Care
- Mucking out stables to a high standard.
- Feeding horses according to their daily routines.
- Monitoring horses and reporting any health or welfare concerns.
- Assisting with general stable and horse care duties.
Yard Maintenance
- Maintaining the yard, stables, and surrounding areas to a very high standard.
- Operating a tractor and other yard equipment safely.
- Keeping all tools and equipment clean and organised.
Fleet Cleaning & Presentation
- Washing and cleaning horse trucks, lorries, and company vehicles to an exceptional level of detail.
- Ensuring all transport vehicles are presented professionally at all times.
General Duties
- Assisting with loading and unloading horses when required.
- Working closely with the wider team to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
- Supporting other general yard and maintenance tasks as needed.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with horses is essential.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Ability to operate a tractor confidently.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to maintain very high standards.
- Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- HGV (truck) licence is highly desirable.
- Experience cleaning and maintaining commercial vehicles.
- Previous experience in a professional equine environment.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- 5-day working week.
- Occasional weekend work as required.
