Job Purpose
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities. The role supports maintenance planning, asset reliability, team development, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and operational issues.
- Supervise maintenance technicians, fitters, and external contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
- Organise, coordinate, and lead maintenance training and development activities for maintenance personnel.
- Prepare and manage shift schedules, work assignments, and labour allocation to meet operational requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinate the procurement and control of maintenance tools, spare parts, consumables, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, breakdowns, and emergency repair situations.
- Monitor maintenance projects and shutdown activities to ensure completion within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Conduct and lead safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance checks across maintenance worksites.
- Carry out hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting work on machinery and equipment when required.
- Inspect and evaluate plant equipment and worksites to determine preventative and corrective maintenance needs.
- Escalate significant maintenance or operational issues to management and recommend practical corrective actions and long-term solutions.
- Develop and maintain the Site Asset Register and associated preventative maintenance schedules.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of the Operations and Maintenance Team.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support problem-solving at both operational and strategic levels.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, procedures, health & safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Undertake any other maintenance-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualification or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, or a related discipline
- Previous experience in a supervisory maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, and plant machinery
- Experience with maintenance planning and asset management systems preferred
- Health & Safety training/certification desirable

Pay: €60,000.00 per year
