Job Overview
The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the manufacture of drug products through the setup, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. The role requires strict adherence to cGMP regulations, SOPs, and internal policies.
The technician plays a key role in maintaining production efficiency, quality, and throughput by identifying issues, assisting in troubleshooting, and ensuring timely escalation and resolution. This position operates within a team environment and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
This is a 12-month contract, working 100% onsite in a 2-cycle shift environment (including night rotation).
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a structured rotating shift system:
- 2-cycle shift (20% allowance):
- Rotating weeks of days and evenings
- Days: 06:30 – 14:30
- Evenings: 14:20 – 23:00 (Fridays: 14:20 – 19:30)
- Night shift (33% allowance):
1 week of nights every 6 weeks(This coincides with a scheduled evening rotation week)Responsibilities
- 22:30 – 07:30
- Fridays: 19:30 – 03:30
- Support and adhere to established maintenance schedules
- Maintain production and facility equipment in compliance with SOPs, maintenance instructions, and cGMP standards
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in real time
- Follow escalation processes for issues affecting production SLAs and targets
- Identify and report equipment or process deviations
- Provide updates on maintenance activities and operational challenges
- Execute machine changeovers in line with SOPs and SLAs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
- Drive continuous improvement and process innovation
- Complete all required training (company and role-specific)
- Assist in training new and existing personnel where required
- Promote and uphold safety standards, reporting any risks or concerns
- Participate in departmental initiatives and projects
RequirementsEducation
- Minimum qualification in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation trade
- Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in GMP/pharmaceutical manufacturing (oral solid dose preferred) or similar regulated environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills (majority mechanical focus)
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, technical manuals, electrical wiring schematics, layout drawings, and P&IDs
- Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Maximo and TrackWise experience advantageous
