Bookkeeper
Shankill Old Folks Association (SOFA) was established in the 1970s as a Day Care Centre, incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) in 1981 and became a registered charity in 1989. SOFA provides essential day care and meals on wheels services for older persons in the local community area.
Role Title: Bookkeeper & Accounts Assistant.
This role is important in ensuring accurate and compliant financial management.
Reports To: The Manager
Location: Shankill, Dublin (hybrid, freelance option)
Contract:
· Type: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week (flexible by agreement)
· Salary: FTE €32,760 (pro rata for 15 hours: = €14,040).
Working closely with the Manager, the post-holder will:
· Maintain financial records (Bright Books)
· Process purchase invoices and supplier payments (BOI/BOL)
· Prepare bank and SumUp reconciliations
· Administer monthly payroll (Pascal, ROS)
· Prepare monthly financial reports for management and trustees
· Support the preparation of year-end accounts for audit
· Provide administrative support and assist with other duties as required
Fundraising and Administration Support
· Liaise with external auditors and funding agencies
· Assist the Manager and Treasurer in developing annual budgets and forecasts
· Maintain the Asset Register
· Have an overview of HSE S39 Arrangements
· Comply with all SOFA policies and procedures
· Support donation and income tracking (donations, grants, other fundraising)
· Support financial monitoring and submissions (HSE S39)
· Support appropriate donor record-keeping and reporting.
Member Subscription Support
· Liaise with Office Administrator
· Process member invoices and payments (MOW and Day Care)
· Prepare monthly member reconciliations
· Process monthly HSE submissions and invoices
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
Practical bookkeeping experience (preferably in a non-profit context).
Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Bright Books, Pascal).
Knowledge of financial controls and bookkeeping best practices.
Strong knowledge and experience of charity accounting principles
Familiarity with HSE Section 39 requirements.
Experience in managing accounts for grants, fundraising income, and restricted funds.
Experience supporting external audits.

Excellent communication skills to support Manager, trustees and non-finance staff.
