To deliver the Lifestart home-based Growing Child Programme. To keep records and make reports as per agreed procedures and reporting mechanisms. To signpost and support parents to avail of other support services in County leitrim. To provide additional parenting supports to families with identified needs.
The responsibilities of the Family Visitor are as follows:
- To be committed to the Ethos and Mission Statement of Lifestart.
- To gain a working knowledge of the principles, values and structures of Lifestart.
- To undertake relevant training, as required.
- To gain a working knowledge and understanding of the Growing Child programme and associated educational and learning resources.
- To deliver the Growing Child curriculum to enable parents to implement the programme within the home setting.
- To demonstrate to parents the importance of play to support development and connection.
- To provide additional supports to families with identified needs eg extra support around toilet training, managing behaviours.
- To gain a working knowledge of other Lifestart parenting support programmes.
- To adhere to the policies and procedures of the organisation including Child Protection.
- To work collaboratively with other staff as part of a team.
- To keep accurate reports and records, as required and, to make information available to appropriate others in accordance with agreed protocols.
- To always maintain confidentiality in relation to the Lifestart organisation.
- To become aware of local statutory, voluntary and community providers within the area.
- To sign-post and support parents to avail of other appropriate support services in accordance with agreed protocols.
- To liaise, network and represent the project, as requested
- To carry out any other duties appropriate to the development of the Lifestart programme within competence and reason.
- To meet the needs of the families the FV will be required to work flexible hours

Education:

A relevant qualification in Early Childhood Care & Education, Applied Social Care, Community Development or equivalent
Experience:

A minimum of 2 years paid work experience in a relevant field

Experience of working in the family home & supporting parents/caregivers
Experience of working with children under 5 years old
Facilitation experience
