We are currently recruiting for a Senior Healthcare Assistant for Beaumont Lodge Transitional Care Unit, Kilmore Road, Artane, Dublin 5.

Purpose of the role:
To provide support and share responsibility with the Clinical Team for the assessment of patient’s needs, training and orientation of new staff and the ongoing day-to-day supervision of the Health Care Assistant’s Team.
Supervisory:
- Delegate staff and monitor all HCA activities.
- Ensure compliance with uniform, work permit and time management policies
- Ensure the team are updated on any changes to care plans or resident’s health status.
- Identify training needs of the team to be able to provide appropriate care to all patients / Residents.
- Educate and Train HCAs on specific resident care needs, activities and conditions required.
- Carry out care and train carers according to the company’s clinical policies.
- Support the team following grief, loss and bereavement of a resident
- Attend regular meetings with the management team.
- Assist with preparing, manage and be responsible for the HCA roster, including the management of annual leave, absences and swaps
- Contribute to and assist with staff appraisals and supervision.
Learning & Development:
- Promote learning and development by encouraging individual’s interests.
- Encourage staff to communicate their learning needs and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify own learning needs and address any limitations as necessary. Participate in the personal and professional development of the HCAs with guidance and assistance form the Clinical Team.
Communication:
- Foster, maintain and ensure effective communication with and between the Clinical Care Team, the families, the patients / Residents, and the MDT.
Clinical Governance:
- Ensure a high standard of care and service provided by continual monitoring, auditing and inspection of the systems in place. Provide you Home Manager with a weekly report regarding same.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Full QQI Level 5 qualifications /Nursing degree in healthcare
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Residential, Hospital environment
- Previous experience as a Team Leader/Mentor
Desirable:
- QQI Level 6 or higher in Healthcare Support or equivalent.
- QQI Level 6 in Leadership and Supervisory Management Qualifications
