We are currently seeking a Site Manager for our QRL operation in Carrick on Suir on a permanent basis. Included in this role is our MRF Plant, MSW Mining, Skip sortation & collections business. The successful candidate will be required to oversee the efficient operation and performance of all aspects of the site operation. You will be responsible for ensuring that all waste processing plant and equipment within the site is functioning efficiently, well maintained, and delivers results. The role focuses on maximizing performance, controlling costs, and maintaining a safe working environment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Site Leader for the QRL Operation
- Identify and implement best practices to optimize production and meet KPIs. Regularly review performance data and lead the team to achieve targets.
- Manage day-to-day operations including staff utilization, material handling, production efficiency, and resource management.
- Develop work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for operations and cover leave for approx. 30 employees.
- Supervise staff performance, ensuring operational needs are met with minimal downtime.
- Ensure that the MRF operates in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible, by actively supervising day to-day operations including staff numbers, agency staff, hours worked, processes and material handling, production versus targets, fuel usage and trends, 5S implementation, and all other relevant processes and activities.
- Oversee waste material handling, separation, and delivery to appropriate outlets are conducted in an efficient and compliant manner (including pre-sorting by loading machine operators).
- Ensure that all revenue and cost control measures relevant to the site are fully adhered to, including weighbridge traffic and ensuring waste received matches how it was categorised, access to the site, diesel access and usage.
- Ensure all personnel are fully trained for their role and that all work completed is in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines. Ensure that all health and safety procedures and requirements relevant to the MRF and yard are fully adhered to.
- Implement a plant maintenance program with all fixed and mobile assets clearly identified and oversee the logging of maintenance activities.
- Ensure spare parts stock is well-managed and maintenance staff are upskilled as needed.
- Enforce all Health & Safety procedures, ensuring staff are trained and operations comply with regulations.
- Address any safety concerns or issues promptly.
- Assist in operational tasks as needed and provide leave cover for direct reports.
- Monitor contamination levels of material.
- Liaise with the transport manager on the collections business.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of approximately 30 employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous management experience within recycling, manufacturing or industrial operations
- Proven management experience in a production or waste processing facility.
- Experience overseeing operations in a labour-intensive, multi-shift environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability
- This is a site-based role.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
