Personal Assistant/Driver – Day Service O Brien Street, Tipperary Town
Part-Time Permanent– 18 hours per week
MooreHaven was founded in 1981 to provide a day service for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Service Users attend from within a 30-mile radius of Tipperary Town, in counties Tipperary and Limerick, and have grown to about 120 today. MooreHaven is an integral part of Tipperary and employs up to 90 full- and part-time skilled service providers. Services provided have grown significantly over the years and now encompass Day Activation, Supported Work/Employment, Day Services, Training Programmes, and HIQA-registered Residential & Respite facilities.
Our Mission is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development and work opportunities for people attending our services.
About The Role
This is a rewarding role combining Day Service transport duties with Outreach Personal Assistant (PA) support.
The successful candidate will provide safe and reliable transport for service users travelling to and from the MooreHaven Day Service, while also providing person-centred PA support to service users in their own homes.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Driver Duties
- Safely transport service users to and from the MooreHaven Day Service during scheduled morning and afternoon runs.
- Ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of service users throughout each journey.
- Carry out appropriate vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and MooreHaven policies and procedures.
- Provide a welcoming, respectful and supportive service to all service users using the transport service.
Personal Assistant (PA) Duties
- Provide person-centred support to service users in their own homes and local communities.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, as required.
- Provide companionship and social support.
- Support individuals to access their local community and participate in meaningful activities.
- Promote independence, personal choice and self-reliance.
- Support service users in achieving their individual goals and agreed outcomes.
- Follow individual care/support plans and organisational policies and procedures.
- Support agreed personal care or health-related needs, where required and within the scope of the role.
- Maintain the dignity, privacy and rights of each service user at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals to ensure a high-quality, person-centred service.
- Maintain appropriate records and report any concerns, incidents or changes in a service user’s wellbeing to the relevant manager.
Proposed Working Hours
The role is 18 hours per week, incorporating scheduled morning and afternoon transport runs each weekday.
Monday 8:30am – 10:15am & 3:45pm – 6:30pm
Tuesday 8:30am – 10:15am & 3:45pm – 6:30pm
Wednesday 9:00am – 10:15am & 3:45pm – 5:00pm
Thursday 9:00am – 10:15am & 3:45pm – 5:00pm
Friday 8:30am – 10:15am & 1:45pm – 4:00pm
In addition to the transport runs, the successful candidate will provide Outreach Personal Assistant (PA) support in service users’ homes three days per week.
The exact PA hours will be scheduled around the transport duties and service requirements.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Required
A strong commitment to supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and an empathetic, person-centred approach are essential for this role.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be reliable and flexible, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Full clean Irish/EU driving licence.
- Buccal Medication (Buccalom) Training.
- Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Experience providing person-centred support in a community or home setting is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
