Job Description:
Sorrento Restaurant & Cafe is expanding its service to include breakfast offerings and is seeking an experienced Kitchen Chef to join the team on a part-time basis.
The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment and consistently meet the standards set by the Head Chef.
A strong understanding of Italian and contemporary European cuisine is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard in line with menu specifications
- Supporting kitchen operations during evening service when required
- Ensuring all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in accordance with the Head Chef’s standards
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all kitchen areas
- Ensuring full compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations
- Managing food preparation efficiently to meet service demands
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock rotation and storage
- Minimising food waste and ensuring proper portion control
- Working collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
Working Hours:
- Part-time position (25–30 hours per week)
- Must be available for evening shifts during the week
- Weekend availability required
- Flexible scheduling to be discussed during interview
Pay & Benefits:
- €14.95 to €16 per hour
- Sunday shifts paid at 1.3x standard hourly rate
- Free staff meals provided
Personal Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a chef in a professional kitchen
- All relevant food handling and hygiene certifications completed
- Strong understanding and practical application of HACCP standards
- Experience working in fast-paced kitchen environments
- Ability to follow direction and maintain consistency with Head Chef’s standards
- Good knowledge of Italian and contemporary European cuisine
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
