This is a hands-on role working as part of our busy warehouse and yard team. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day handling of stock, preparation of customer orders and deliveries, while providing a friendly and efficient service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Picking and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently
· Assisting and serving customers.
· Loading and unloading customer vehicles and delivery vehicles
· Receiving, checking and storing incoming stock
· Operating a forklift safely and responsibly
· Ensuring stock is stored safely and in the correct locations
· Assisting with stock checks and general stock control
· Keeping the Stores and yard clean, tidy and well organised
· Following all company Health & Safety procedures
· Working closely with colleagues across the yard, stores and shop floor.
· Carrying out other duties as required
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
· Have previous experience in a warehouse, yard or similar environment
· Have forklift experience; a valid forklift licence would be an advantage
· Be reliable, punctual and have a strong work ethic
· Have good communication and customer service skills
· Be organised and able to work effectively in a busy environment
· Be comfortable with the physical nature of the role
· Be able to work well as part of a team and on their own initiative
· Have good attention to detail
· Knowledge of building materials, hardware or builders’ merchant products – an advantage but not essential
