Job description
Qcom Technology Ltd is supporting Ebblo with the installation services for the next generation Automatic Vehicle Location system across Ireland.
The National Transport Authority is deploying a cloud-based Next-Generation AVL system designed to unify public transport services across the country. Trapeze Group is implementing this national-scale project, which will connect approximately 2,300 buses across Ireland.
Qcom has been selected to support the deployment and is now looking to recruit up to 6 experienced technicians to assist with installations over the next 6 to 12 months.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled field technicians, auto-electricians, vehicle technology installers, or experienced hardware installation engineers to be part of a major national transport technology project.
The role
You will be responsible for attending bus depots and associated locations to carry out installation and upgrade work on public transport vehicles as part of the national AVL deployment.

Flexibility to travel and work away from home for short periods may be required. Where travel away is required, full accommodation and travel costs will be covered.
The work will primarily be completed during night shifts to support vehicle availability and minimise disruption to transport operations.
Typical duties will include:
· Installing, upgrading and replacing onboard vehicle technology.
· Working on buses and public transport vehicles.
· Following installation instructions, technical guides and project-specific processes.
· Completing checks and testing to confirm successful installation.
· Recording completed work accurately through the relevant job management system.
· Reporting any installation issues, defects or blockers to the project team.
· Working safely and professionally within depot environments.
· Maintaining good communication with supervisors, project coordinators and customer contacts.

· Bus, coach, HGV, fleet or transport depot environments.
· Previous experience working on public transport vehicles would be a strong advantage, although full project-specific guidance will be provided.

· Applicants should have:
· Strong practical installation skills.
· Ability to work nights on a regular basis.
· Good attention to detail.
· Ability to follow technical instructions and installation processes.
· Good communication skills.
· A professional and reliable approach.
· Own transport and willingness to travel to depot locations.
· Flexibility to travel and stay away for short periods where required.
· Right to work in Ireland.
