We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Order Picker to join our school lunch distribution team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately selecting and packing food items according to school lunch orders, ensuring all meals are complete, labelled correctly, and ready for timely delivery. This position plays a key role in helping schools receive nutritious meals for their students.
Working hours 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday
This is a school term contract , so when the school are closed we are closed
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick and pack school lunch orders based on daily order sheets
- Ensure accuracy of items selected, including correct quantities, labels, and packaging
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and handling guidelines at all times
- Load ovens for the Hot Meal deliveries.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including storage and packing zones
- Communicate with team leads or supervisors regarding shortages, substitutions, or discrepancies
- Assist with inventory checks, stock rotation, and restocking shelves as needed
- Work efficiently to meet daily deadlines for order completion and dispatch
- Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen, warehouse, or delivery operations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in food service, warehouse, or order picking is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (training provided)
- Accuracy and attention to detail is critical
Work Environment:
- Involves working in refrigerated or temperature-controlled environments
- Morning or early start hours based
- Uniforms or protective gear provided as needed
