Full-Time Hatchery Operative
Location: Smithborough, Co. Monaghan
Hours: Full-Time (40+ hours per week)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Hatchery Operative to join our hatchery team. This is a hands-on role that plays a vital part in ensuring the successful incubation, hatching, and care of poultry while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring incubation and hatching processes.
- Handling and caring for day-old chicks in accordance with welfare standards.
- Cleaning and disinfecting hatchery equipment and work areas.
- Preparing eggs for incubation and transferring them between incubation stages.
- Operating hatchery machinery safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining accurate production and hatchery records.
- Following strict biosecurity, health, and safety procedures.
- Supporting colleagues to meet daily production targets.
- Carrying out general hatchery duties as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
- Be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
- Be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Have good attention to detail.
- Be committed to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and hygiene.
- Be flexible to work weekends and shifts when required.
- Previous experience in a hatchery, poultry, farming, or food production environment is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
