Pod Furniture Ireland is an Irish-owned premium furniture and lighting retailer based at Douglas Mills, Cork, with two showroom locations and a growing online store. We've built a reputation in the premium-to-upper-mid market for considered, design-led pieces and a genuinely helpful in-store experience — including our Design Clinic consultations, where customers get hands-on help planning sofas, colours and fabrics before they buy.
The Role
We're looking for a Design Sales Consultant to join our showroom team on a part-time, flexible basis. This role suits someone who can move comfortably between the two sides of the job: guiding a customer through a genuine design conversation — scale, layout, colour, fabric, lead times — and then converting that conversation into a confident, well-supported sale. You'll be a first point of contact on the shop floor and, where relevant, in our design consultation slots, helping customers leave not just with a purchase but with a plan for the room it's going into.
What You'll Do
- Welcome customers on the showroom floor and build rapport quickly, understanding their space, style and budget
- Offer informed design guidance — colour and fabric pairings, scale and layout, material choices — grounded in genuine interior design knowledge, not just product spec
- Run or support in-store design consultations (including Design Clinic-style sessions), advising on sofas, dining and lighting for a customer's actual room
- Guide customers through the sales process from first conversation to order, including special orders and lead-time expectations
- Meet and support showroom sales targets while keeping the customer experience the priority
- Maintain showroom presentation standards, including product displays and merchandising
- Follow up with customers post-sale and post-consultation to support repeat business and referrals
- Keep up to date on new collections, brands and fabric ranges as they come into the showroom
- Reply to customer emails promptly and professionally, handling queries from first enquiry through to after-sales
- Prepare accurate order specifications, including product, fabric, dimensions and lead times, for every sale
- Handle general administration tied to the role — order processing, filing, and other showroom paperwork as needed
What We're Looking For
- Experience in interior design, soft furnishings, or a related design discipline — formal qualification or hands-on experience both welcome
- A track record in sales or retail, ideally in furniture, homeware, or another considered-purchase category
- A genuine eye for colour, fabric, proportion and how pieces work together in a real room
- Confident, warm communication style — equally comfortable chatting on the shop floor and running a structured design consultation
- Comfortable working towards sales targets without it feeling like the customer is being sold to
- Well organised, with good attention to detail for orders, lead times and customer follow-up
- Flexible availability to match showroom trading hours — Saturday working is mandatory for this role
What We Offer
- Part-time, flexible hours to suit — details agreed with the successful candidate (Saturdays are a mandatory working day)
- A premium product range to work with, and real input into how customers experience it
- Staff discount on Pod Furniture Ireland products
- A small, supportive team across two showroom locations
Pay: €28,478.11-€30,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Work Location: In person
