Job Description
The Airfield Maintenance Planner reports to the Stores & Planning Manager and is responsible for proactively planning and coordinating all airfield asset maintenance activities. The role focuses on anticipating and preventing potential delays by ensuring the timely availability of resources, parts, materials, equipment, and access to work areas.
This position coordinates maintenance activities across the Asset Management Airfield Teams, while also providing support to other maintenance planners as needed. The Airfield Maintenance Planner plays a key role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of airfield equipment and facilities through effective planning and scheduling.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain robust short- and medium-term maintenance plans in collaboration with Airfield stakeholders.
- Compile weekly schedules based on preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance backlogs.
- Ensure planning aligns with statutory compliance requirements and operational priorities.
Work Prioritisation & CMMS Management (Maximo)
- Prioritise maintenance activities from the CMMS backlog to optimise execution efficiency.
- Ensure all work documentation is accurately linked to assets, work orders, and PMs in Maximo.
- Act as a Maximo ‘Master User’, identifying data issues and driving system improvements.
- Support development and uploading of job plans for preventative maintenance.
Resource & Materials Coordination
- Coordinate with inventory, procurement, and suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts (stock and non-stock).
- Ensure specialist tools and equipment are available prior to scheduling work.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Engage daily with System Managers, Delivery Managers, Team Leads, Airside Operations, and APOC.
- Coordinate access to airside/landside and restricted areas with relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate planned work and facility impacts across stakeholders.
Contractor & Third-Party Coordination
- Support coordination of contractor attendance, site access, and briefings.
- Manage Permit to Work requirements and ensure compliance with airport and third-party processes.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Lead weekly planning meetings and attend monthly planning meetings and present compiled reports in agreed template for review in advance of the meeting.
- Deliver performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Promote accurate data capture within the team to enhance reporting and KPI tracking.
Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture within maintenance activities.
- Support asset performance analysis and recommend improvements.
- Investigate and implement predictive maintenance strategies aligned to industry best practice.
Technical Support, Training & Industry Engagement
- Provide technical support, guidance and training to maintenance teams on planning processes and tools.
- Support planning and recording of training activities in Maximo.
- Build relationships with suppliers and industry peers to leverage new technologies and best practices.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of equipment and facilities to better inform maintenance planning.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Related trade qualification or bachelor’s degree in engineering
3-5 years minimum post trade experience
Previous planning experience desirable
Full Clean Drivers Licence

Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (Maximo) and Microsoft Office applications desirable.
AutoCAD desirable.
Knowledge of Lean Maintenance Principles desirable.
