Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering a range of commercial and residential projects across Ireland. This role will focus on the management, coordination, and delivery of mechanical engineering services, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout all project phases, contributing technical expertise and providing engineering solutions across a diverse project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of mechanical engineering packages on commercial and residential projects.
- Coordinate mechanical engineering activities from project inception through to completion.
- Review mechanical specifications, drawings, and technical submissions.
- Assist with the development and implementation of practical mechanical engineering solutions.
- Support the selection and specification of mechanical systems, plant, and equipment.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
- Mentor and support graduate and junior mechanical engineers.
- Allocate engineering tasks and review completed work to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Report project progress and technical matters to senior management.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role within commercial and/or residential construction projects.
- Strong understanding of building services and mechanical systems.
- Experience coordinating projects and managing technical deliverables.
- Ability to review mechanical documentation, specifications, and contractor submissions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers would be advantageous.
- Some exposure to mechanical design and system specification is desirable.
