Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile and proactive Industrial Gas & Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of our production, filling, and storage facilities. In this role, you will maintain high-pressure gas systems, bulk cryogenic storage tanks, specialised acetylene production plant machinery, and general site infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant & Equipment Maintenance: Execute Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and corrective repairs on gas compressors, automated filling manifolds, vacuum pumps, and filling equipment to minimise operational downtime.
- Specialized Acetylene Operations: Perform dedicated maintenance onour acetylene production plant, ensuring all generators, scrubbers, compressors, and safety interlocks operate to regulatory standards.
- Cryogenic & Bulk Storage: Maintain bulk liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon storage systems, including ambient vaporisers, pressure regulation stations, and cryogenic valves.
- Fabrication & Repairs: Carry out mechanical fabrication, pipework repairs, and welding on filling racks and site structures.
- Contractor & Compliance Management: Supervise external service contractors and specialist engineers during site upgrades, audits, and statutory pressure vessel inspections.
- Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, equipment histories, and calibration records within the company’s Quality Management System.
- General Facilities & EHS: Oversee general site maintenance, including building upkeep, tool/workshop organisation, site security, winter readiness plans, and waste management.
- Buildings Maintenance: Maintain the premises including power washing, painting, building repairs and associated works.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities across pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
- Basic working knowledge of electrical systems (3-phase power, sensors, motor controls) and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Practical welding and pipe fabrication skills (TIG/MIG/Arc).
- Rigorous commitment to Environmental Health and Safety and quality compliance.
