Main Purpose and Objectives of Position:
To provide HVAC support to manufacturing facilities. To provide engineering support for the Lab and other areas with specific HVAC requirements. Working with others define and implement projects that meet the requirement of user areas, on time, within budget, and meeting all regulatory requirements.
Support continuous improvement in project engineering through technical and practical insight of project delivery processes and understanding of end user needs.
Personal Considerations:
At times, the Project HVAC Engineer may need to travel offsite to other locations, other pharmaceutical companies, conferences, vendor sites (for Factory Acceptance Tests) or off-site training.
Educational Requirements: Third Level Qualification or equivalent education or experience.
License/Certificate Requirements: None
Language Requirements: Proficient in English
Key Responsibilities:
In line with the job outlined above, the following are typically the key tasks that would be expected of the role:
- Be a safety advocate, adhering to and promoting Safety standards throughout.
- Responsible for the design of new HVAC systems and the modifications to existing HVAC systems.
- Define the project scopes with the user representatives and detail in user requirement specifications. Co-ordinate the technical requirements with the area user representative.
- Provide estimates and technical guidance to user areas for CIR completion. Draft initial CIR for presentation for approval.
- Select & procure HVAC plant equipment tender and award HVAC contracts in conjunction with Purchasing Department.
- Ensure estimates use standard detail to permit good cost monitoring.
- Understand the GMP requirements and ensure the project design complies with them.
- Develop design calculations, drawings, scope documents and specifications.
- Understand the local and corporate procedures and ensure the project complies with them. Specifically, comply with the project execution procedure/guideline.
- Understand the Validation requirements and determine the Validation required on the projects. Work with the Validation group to develop the documentation and complete the required documentation.
- Place the requisitions for the components required for the projects and adhere to the FRAP policy.
- Monitor the projects for compliance to scope, budget and schedule and report on the projects monthly via the scorecard.
- Responsible for the HVAC construction management for the projects.
- Responsible for commissioning of HVAC systems (air and utility balancing).
- Co-ordinate the shutdown planning of the projects with the business area team.
- Interpret the FDA and other relevant guidelines with respect to HVAC and determine the required standards and specifications.
- Identify personal training requirements and proactively complete required training.
