Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Flat Trailer and Low Loader Driver to transport heavy machinery, construction equipment, oversized loads, and general freight safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure all loads are properly secured, comply with transport regulations, and deliver cargo on time while maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate flat trailer and low loader vehicles safely and professionally.
- Transport heavy equipment, machinery, construction materials, and oversized loads.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo using chains, straps, binders, and other approved securing methods.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects.
- Ensure compliance with road transport regulations, weight limits, and permit requirements.
- Complete delivery documentation, logbooks, and inspection reports accurately.
- Plan routes and communicate with dispatch regarding schedules and delivery updates.
- Maintain vehicles and trailers in a clean and roadworthy condition.
- Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's licence (appropriate class for articulated vehicles).
- Proven experience operating flat trailer and low loader combinations.
- Knowledge of load restraint techniques and transport safety regulations.
- Experience transporting heavy machinery or oversized loads is preferred.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy haulage or oversized load transport experience.
- Forklift, telehandler, or plant operation experience (desirable).
- Knowledge of route planning and permit requirements for abnormal loads.
- Clean driving record.
