Maintenance Person
Purpose
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team on a part-time basis and support the safe and effective operation of the nursing home. The successful candidate will help maintain a comfortable, secure and well-presented environment for residents, visitors and staff through the delivery of planned, preventative and responsive maintenance services as well as health and safety checks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and preventative work as well as repair work throughout the Home to ensure that all basic functions of the Home are, in so far as is practicable, in constant working order.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are responded to and completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Homes’ policies and procedures supporting
- Monitor and maintain building systems including heating, lighting and general facilities
- Support fire safety checks and ensure compliance with health & safety requirements as well as risk assessments
- Maintain accurate records (completed works, inspections etc)
- Ensure all executed maintenance activities are recorded
- Provide regular and timely updates to Management
- Troubleshoot equipment faults and breakages to determine cause and to investigate repairs.
- Ensure effective completion and ongoing review of planned equipment maintenance routines
- Minimise downtime on equipment, through fast response, effective root cause and good problem-solving techniques
- Effective analysis and elimination of recurring equipment problems.
- To liaise one to one with Contractors without supervision
- Maintain external and internal areas including pathways, courtyards and car parking areas
The Person/Skills Required
· Minimum of 3 years in a similar role (maintenance, facilities or general repairs role)
· Trade qualification in plumbing, carpentry or electrician is desirable.
· Practical knowledge of building maintenance and health and safety.
· Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
· Proven ability to work well independently and also as part of a team.
· Strong organisational skills and time management skills
· Ability to prioritise a work schedule
· Strong technical capability with attention to detail.
