Position Title: Site electrician
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Site Electrician to join our team. As a Site Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on various construction sites. You will collaborate with other professionals and work under the supervision of a site manager to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Install and configure electrical systems: Carry out the installation of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment, adhering to electrical codes, safety guidelines, and project specifications. This includes running conduits, pulling wire, and connecting devices.
- Conduct maintenance and repair tasks: Regularly inspect electrical systems to identify issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements. Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and implement effective solutions promptly to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Perform electrical testing: Utilize testing equipment and tools to assess the performance and functionality of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Conduct tests on circuits, transformers, motors, and other electrical components to verify proper operation.
- Collaborate with project teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople to coordinate electrical installations and modifications as per project requirements. Provide technical expertise and guidance during planning and execution stages.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations: Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to prevent accidents, such as using protective gear, implementing lockout/tagout procedures, and adhering to electrical safety standards.
- Maintain documentation: Create and maintain accurate records of electrical work performed, including installation diagrams, maintenance logs, and repair reports. Update project documentation and communicate progress to supervisors and team members. Stay updated on industry trends: Keep abreast of new electrical technologies, codes, and regulations. Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance technical skills and maintain professional competence.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or relevant vocational training is preferred. Possession of a valid electrician's license or certification is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an electrician, preferably in a construction or industrial setting. Experience with site electrical work, including wiring, conduit installation, and troubleshooting, is essential.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and tools. Knowledge of local electrical codes and safety standards.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently. Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and contractors. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and precision in electrical installations and repairs. Ability to identify potential hazards and adhere to safety protocols.
- Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to perform the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Adherence to project deadlines and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
