# Role Overview
The Financial Controller will take responsibility for the financial management of a diversified group operating across plant hire, equipment rental, agricultural services and farming.
Reporting directly to the Directors, the successful candidate will provide both strategic financial leadership and hands-on operational support, ensuring robust financial controls while assisting with continued business growth.

# Key Responsibilities
## Financial Leadership & Reporting
* Prepare monthly management accounts for all group companies
* Produce detailed financial analysis and performance reporting
* Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts
* Monitor profitability across individual business divisions
* Prepare cash flow forecasts and liquidity planning
* Liaise with external accountants and auditors
* Prepare statutory accounts and tax information
## Commercial & Operational Finance
* Develop profitability reporting by fleet, department and business unit
* Monitor utilisation and return on capital employed across hire fleet
* Analyse equipment performance and replacement cycles
* Support investment appraisals for new machinery and fleet acquisitions
* Assist Directors with strategic planning and commercial decision-making
* Develop KPI reporting dashboards
## Cash Flow & Financial Control
* Manage banking relationships and funding facilities
* Oversee debtors, creditors and working capital
* Ensure timely Revenue compliance including VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax
* Maintain strong internal financial controls
* Review pricing structures and commercial margins
## Systems & Process Improvement
* Improve financial reporting systems
* Develop operational reporting processes
* Enhance inventory and asset management controls
* Support digitisation and automation initiatives
* Improve financial efficiencies across the group

# Candidate Requirements
### Qualifications
* ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience
Experience
* Previous Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager experience
* Experience within plant hire, construction, engineering, agriculture or a similar asset-intensive business would be advantageous
* Strong management accounting and commercial finance experience
* Experience managing multiple companies or business divisions
* Excellent financial systems and advanced Excel skills
* Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
