Wexford County Council invites applicants for the following post:
Executive Engineer
Executive Engineers are appointed to a variety of roles across the Council. The role can include responsibility for the management and successful delivery of both major and minor capital projects; responsibility for the management and effective delivery of services and responsibility for the management and supervision of staff.
Positions may arise in any area of the Council’s functions which include Environment, Rural Water, Roads, Planning and Housing. The person/s appointed will work under the direction and control of the Senior Engineer or Senior Executive Engineer or other officer designated by the Chief Executive.

Selection for all posts will be by means of interview and candidates may be shortlisted based on applications submitted. Panels may be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, ETC.
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
(a) hold at least an ordinary bachelor’s degree (Level 7 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Engineering.
OR
hold an ordinary bachelor’s degree (Level 7 in the National Framework of Qualifications) AND a post-graduate master’s degree (Level 9 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Engineering.
OR
hold a master’s degree (Level 9 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Engineering attained after completing an integrated master’s level programme of at least 4 years’ duration, and which is accredited at CEng level by Engineers Ireland, or an equivalent accreditation body internationally.
(b) have at least five years satisfactory relevant engineering experience;
(c) possess a high standard of technical training and experience;
(d) possess a high standard of administrative experience;
(e) have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organization or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
Notes:
(i) To ensure that Engineering has been studied to the level required by the local government sector, and in order to be fair to those who may have studied on a part-time basis, a level 7 degree will be assessed on the basis that the period of study undertaken should be equivalent to at least 180 ECTS (European Credit Transfer Accumulation System) credits.
(ii) Candidates should note for future career progression, that at current it is policy of Wexford County Council that anyone applying for a senior Engineering post (Senior Executive Engineer, Resident Engineer, Senior Resident Engineer and Senior Engineer) will require at least an honours bachelor’s degree (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Engineering to be eligible.
