VISITOR EXPERIENCE EVENING/WEEKEND HOST
Job Brief
We are looking for a Visitor Experience Host to provide a warm welcome to all visitors, creating a positive first impression of Mount Congreve Gardens. This is a physical, hands-on role that requires energy, flexibility, and a willingness to assist across a wide variety of tasks. Your primary duties include welcoming and directing customers and overnight guests, attending to reservations and queries, accommodation operations such as hot tub cleaning and testing, handling payment transactions, and supporting front-of-house and accommodation operations. The roster is over 7 days.

Provide a warm welcome to all visitors creating a positive first impression of the visitor attraction and expertly demonstrate full knowledge of the attraction’s facilities and exhibitions and convey information regarding other visitor attractions locally
Role Overview
Mount Congreve Gardens is seeking a dedicated live-in team member to act as evening and weekend host.
This hybrid role combines guest hospitality with operational oversight.
The position is hands-on and varied: you’ll be the welcoming face for arriving guests, manage hot tub testing and evening checks, handle complaints and ad-hoc requests, and be on call for overnight emergencies. You’ll also provide seamless communication between the day and night teams through clear handovers and participation in regular operational meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
· Warmly welcome and assist arriving guests.
· Be the visible evening point of contact for queries, requests, and complaints.
· Provide ad-hoc support, from delivering amenities to assisting with estate facilities.
Operational Duties
· Carry out daily hot tub testing and record results.
· Complete evening pre-arrival and security checks across accommodation.
· Respond to minor maintenance issues and escalate where necessary.
· Act as first point of response for emergencies overnight (e.g. lock-outs, maintenance failures, health & safety issues).
Team Coordination
· Conduct thorough handovers to and from the day team, ensuring continuity of guest service and accomadation.
· Attend weekly and monthly team meetings to align on operational priorities.
· Maintain clear written and verbal communication with management and colleagues.
Safety & First Aid
· Act as the first responder in case of medical incidents or emergencies on-site.
· Ensure familiarity with estate health & safety, fire safety, and first aid procedures (training provided).
Skills & Experience
· 2+ years’ experience in hospitality, guest services, or accommodation operations.
· Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, professional approach to problem-solving.
· Hands-on, practical attitude with confidence in basic maintenance tasks.
· First aid training (or willingness to obtain certification).
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and be on call overnight.
· Full clean driver’s licence is essential.

Please note: This role is physically demanding. It involves moving between different areas of the estate, setting up spaces for events, carrying supplies, accommodation operations such as hot tub cleaning and testing. Applicants should be comfortable with hands-on tasks and working in a busy, guest-facing environment.
Qualifications & Experience
● Hotel experience is essential
● A passion for working with people
● Experience in a customer service environment
● Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
● Experience or interest in horticulture is preferred but not essential
