We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Assistant Construction Project Manager & Commercial Coordinator with proven on-site construction and development experience to support the successful delivery of construction projects from inception to completion. This role is suited to a hands-on construction professional with a strong site background who is ready to step into a project management and commercial coordination role, bringing practical field knowledge to the delivery team.
The successful candidate will draw on their direct site and construction experience to assist in managing project programmes, monitoring costs, coordinating project information, and supporting project teams through all stages of construction and site development. Practical knowledge of construction sequences, site operations, and ground-up development is central to this role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Support
· Assist Project Managers with the planning and delivery of construction and site development projects, applying hands-on site knowledge to practical problem-solving.
· Coordinate communication between clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
· Support project meetings and maintain accurate records of actions and decisions.
· Monitor project progress and assist in resolving issues that may impact delivery.
· Prepare project reports and presentations for management and clients.
Cost Control & Commercial Support
· Assist in monitoring project budgets and expenditure.
· Track costs against approved budgets and report variances.
· Support the preparation of valuations, variations, procurement schedules, and cost reports.
· Assist with subcontractor administration and commercial documentation.
· Maintain accurate project cost records and financial reporting systems.
Construction Programming & Planning
· Assist in developing and updating project programmes.
· Monitor progress against key milestones and programme targets.
· Support the identification of potential delays and assist in implementing corrective actions.
· Coordinate project information to ensure programme accuracy.
· Produce progress updates and planning reports.
Site & Construction Technology Support
· Maintain site progress records, construction management systems, and project reporting platforms.
· Prepare dashboards, spreadsheets, and performance reports.
· Utilise construction management and digital tools to support project administration, site reporting, document management, and programme tracking.
· Support the adoption of site-based digital construction technologies including site monitoring, progress capture, and quality control systems.
Essential Requirements
· Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, or a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience within the construction industry, with direct site or site development experience essential.
· Thorough understanding of construction and site development project delivery processes, including groundworks, enabling works, and multi-stage construction sequences.
· Knowledge of project cost control and construction planning principles.
· Competent IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with construction project management software an advantage.
· Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Full driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
· Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or similar planning software.
· Experience working with subcontractors, supply chain management, and site-based procurement.
· Experience on commercial, residential, or mixed-use development projects with a ground-up construction element.
