Catherine McAuley Junior School, New Ross is seeking to appoint a reliable, responsible and conscientious Part-Time Caretaker to join our school community.
The successful candidate will help to ensure that the school premises are safe, clean, secure and well maintained, providing a welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
20 hours per week
Monday to Friday:
- 8:00am – 9:15am
- 1:00pm – 3:45pm
The successful candidate must also be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, where required, for school events, maintenance or other necessary duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school premises as required
- Acting as a key holder and ensuring the security of the school buildings
- Carrying out routine checks of the premises and grounds
- Ensuring the school is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition
- Reporting maintenance issues and arranging or carrying out minor repairs where appropriate
- Setting up and tidying rooms and facilities as required
- Assisting with deliveries and general day-to-day practical needs of the school
- Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed
- Liaising with the Principal and school staff regarding maintenance, security and other caretaking matters
- Carrying out other reasonable duties associated with the role
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will:
- Be reliable, trustworthy and responsible
- Have good practical and maintenance skills
- Be capable of working independently and using initiative
- Have good communication and organisational skills
- Be flexible and willing to respond to the needs of the school
- Have a strong awareness of health, safety and security
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance or similar role would be an advantage
As the role involves working in a primary school environment, the successful candidate will be required to comply with the school’s recruitment and safeguarding requirements.
Pay: €15.00 per hour
