Goatsbridge Fish Processors is a family-run Irish aquaculture business specialising in the farming, processing and value-added production of premium rainbow trout. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a hands-on Production Area Manager to lead our Secondary Processing operation.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management of the Secondary Processing Department. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Area Manager will lead the department through the Team Leaders, ensuring, staff safety, quality standards, food safety requirements, production targets and labour efficiency objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will spend significant time on the production floor, leading by example, supporting the Team Leader and production teams, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the department operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide visible leadership on the production floor and maintain a hands-on approach to operational management.
· Lead and develop the Secondary Processing Team Leader and production operatives.
· Ensure daily production plans are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
· Monitor and improve labour productivity, efficiency and departmental performance.
· Ensure production targets, timelines and customer requirements are achieved.
· Maintain strict HACCP, GMP, food safety and hygiene standards.
· Monitor product quality throughout processing, packing and dispatch.
· Drive accountability, teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
· Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
· Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Manage stock rotation and ensure FIFO principles are followed.
· Organise monthly stock checks and inventory control activities.
· Maintain production records, KPI reports and operational documentation.

Experience & Skills
Essential
· Experience managing teams within a food manufacturing environment.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Good understanding of HACCP, GMP and food safety requirements.
· Ability to lead from the factory floor in a hands-on environment.
· Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage performance through KPIs.
Desirable
· Previous experience managing Team Leaders or Supervisors.
· Experience in seafood, meat, dairy or ready-meal manufacturing.
· Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
· Experience with production planning and scheduling.
