As a Junior Systems Administrator within the Internal Systems Team, you will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of GenetiQ’s IT environment. You will gain exposure to a wide range of technologies including Microsoft 365, Windows devices, user access management, and core infrastructure.
Working under the guidance of senior Internal Systems staff, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable and secure IT services across the organisation, while developing the technical and professional capabilities required to progress within the Internal Systems function.
Responsibilities
The Junior Systems Administrator will support the Internal Systems Team in delivering high-quality IT services across the business. Your responsibilities will include assisting with user support, system administration tasks, and maintaining operational stability across core systems.
Key areas of responsibility include:

Supporting user onboarding, offboarding, and access changes (joiners, movers, leavers)
- Managing user accounts, permissions, and groups within Active Directory / Entra ID
- Assisting with Microsoft 365 administration including mailboxes, licences, and access controls
- Providing end-user support for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Supporting device setup, provisioning, and configuration (e.g. Intune / Autopilot)
- Troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues, escalating where required
- Assisting with the maintenance of Windows servers, cloud services, and business systems
- Performing routine system checks, updates, and maintenance activities
- Supporting backup, monitoring, and basic security processes under supervision
- Following IT security policies and reporting potential risks or incidents
- Maintaining accurate IT documentation, asset registers, and user guides
- Contributing to continuous improvement of IT processes and standards

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
A person applying for this role must have:

A qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Some experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or technical environment (including placements or internships)
- Experience in any of the following is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided:
- Active Directory and/or Entra ID
- Microsoft 365 administration (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
- Device management tools such as Intune
- Basic networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, IP addressing)
- Windows 10/11 environments and basic Windows Server exposure
- IT ticketing or ITSM systems
- Awareness of IT security best practices
Relevant certifications (or working towards) are advantageous, for example:

Microsoft Fundamentals (MS-900, AZ-900)
- CompTIA A+ or Network+
