About the Opportunity
A leading international contractor is seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing engineering team based in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale
Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Semiconductor and Data Centre projects, supporting the successful design coordination, technical delivery, construction, commissioning, and handover of complex mechanical systems.
Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Design Consultants, BIM teams, Commissioning Engineers, and Clients, you will provide technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and programme delivery.
The Role - Senior Mechanical Engineer
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across multiple projects, supporting mechanical design coordination, procurement, construction activities, commissioning, and client handover while ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Lead the technical delivery of complex mechanical building services packages, including HVAC, chilled water, heating systems, process pipework, clean utilities, compressed air, LTHW, CHW, BMS interfaces, and associated mechanical plant, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Manage mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including design reviews, technical submittals, procurement support, equipment selection, value engineering, site inspections, installation coordination, technical issue resolution, testing, commissioning, and final handover, while working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Coordinate with BIM, Electrical, CSA, Commissioning, Commercial, and Construction teams to ensure design integration, clash resolution, construction sequencing, installation readiness, and compliance with project specifications, GMP requirements, and client standards.
- Monitor project progress, programme milestones, quality performance, and technical deliverables, identifying risks, implementing engineering solutions, and providing regular reporting to Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
- Mentor and support Junior Engineers and Graduate Engineers, promoting engineering best practice, continuous improvement, safety leadership, and technical excellence across the project team.
Necessary Requirements of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with 5+ years' experience in a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer, Building Services Engineer, or Mechanical Design & Construction role within Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Semiconductor, Data Centre, Manufacturing, or Mission-Critical Construction environments.
- Proven experience delivering complex mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, process pipework, clean utilities, heating and cooling systems, mechanical plant, commissioning, and technical coordination, with a strong understanding of mechanical installation methodologies and construction best practice.
- Strong knowledge of design coordination, procurement, technical submittals, value engineering, QA/QC, commissioning, BIM coordination, project planning, risk management, and mechanical construction, with experience working alongside clients, consultants, specialist subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks (preferred), and the ability to manage multiple workstreams within fast-paced construction environments.
