The Afterschool Assistant supports the school's afterschool program by providing a safe, caring, and engaging environment for students outside of regular school hours. Working closely with teachers and program staff, the Afterschool Assistant supervises students, assists with homework, facilitates recreational and enrichment activities, and promotes positive behaviour in accordance with the school's policies and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students during the afterschool program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Support students with homework and reinforce classroom learning through academic assistance.
- Organize and lead age-appropriate educational, recreational, and creative activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports students' social and emotional development.
- Encourage positive behavior by implementing the school's behavior management policies and procedures.
- Monitor student attendance and assist with sign-in/sign-out procedures.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, program coordinators, and parents regarding student needs or concerns.
- Prepare, organize, and clean up classrooms and activity spaces before and after program sessions.
- Assist with snack distribution while following school health, hygiene, and food safety guidelines.
- Support students with diverse learning needs and abilities, promoting inclusion and equal participation.
- Follow all school safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
Pay: €15.00-€18.00 per hour
