The Solar PV Designer is responsible for creating accurate, compliant, and cost‑effective solar photovoltaic system designs for residential projects. This role ensures that every system meets technical, regulatory, and customer requirements while supporting smooth project delivery from initial concept through installation.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design — Produce detailed PV system designs including module layout, equipment locations, string configuration, cable routes.
- Technical Assessment — Review site surveys, roof measurements, shading analysis, and electrical infrastructure to determine feasibility.
- Regulatory Compliance — Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., SEAI code of Practise, Safe Electric regulations, ESBN requirements.
- Documentation — Prepare complete survey reports including site maps, layout drawings, cable routes, scaffold access information, and installation notes.
- Collaboration — Work closely with sales staff, surveyors, design team, procurement, and scheduling to ensure clarity and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Customer Support — Provide technical explanations and design clarifications to customers when required.
- Continuous Improvement — Contribute to process development, design standards, and workflow optimisation across the design and installation teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of solar PV technology, electrical systems, and mounting solutions.
- Proficiency with PV design software (e.g., Open Solar, Sketch up, PV GIS).
- Ability to interpret site surveys, structural drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, compliant designs.
- Strong communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on practical, installer‑friendly solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in solar PV design or electrical design.
- Knowledge of Irish grid connection processes (NC6/NC7, export limitation, ESBN requirements).
- Familiarity with residential PV systems and SEAI Code of Practise.
- Understanding of battery storage integration and hybrid inverter configurations.

Pay: €29,222.25-€70,588.75 per year
