Experienced Resident Engineer for a major industrial development project in County Kildare. This high-profile, multi-phase project is being delivered on behalf of a leading international business. The development involves the expansion of a large-scale operational facility and includes significant structural steel frameworks, reinforced concrete works, industrial buildings, warehouse construction, associated infrastructure, and site development works.
Offering a project duration of approximately 2 to 3 years, this role provides long-term stability and the opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a complex industrial construction programme.
The successful candidate will spend approximately 3 to 4 days per week on-site in County Kildare, with the remaining time split between the consultancy’s Dublin or Waterford offices.
Overview:
As Resident Engineer, you will act as the client’s representative on-site, overseeing construction activities and ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, programme requirements, and statutory regulations.
You will work closely with contractors, project managers, design teams, and client stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring the successful delivery of this significant industrial development.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and supervise construction activities across all project phases.
- Maintain daily records
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and approved methodologies.
- Oversee structural steel, reinforced concrete, industrial building, and warehouse construction works
- Engagement with contractor and attend site meetings
- Carry out regular site inspections and quality audits.
- Support in review contractor submissions, method statements, inspection test plans, and quality documentation.
- Monitor project progress against programme milestones and report on project performance.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and technical documentation.
- Identify and resolve engineering and construction-related issues as they arise.
- Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
- Liaise effectively with contractors, consultants, client representatives, and regulatory bodies.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance and recommendations where required.
The successful engineer will have the following:
- Qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience within construction, civil engineering, structural engineering, or industrial projects.
- Previous experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer, Clerk of Works, Site Supervisor, or similar engineering role.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality assurance procedures, and site supervision practices.
- Experience overseeing large-scale industrial, manufacturing, commercial, infrastructure, or structural projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions on-site.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Experience working in commercial or manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge of structural steel and reinforced concrete construction.
- Experience representing clients on major construction projects.
