The Role.
GMC are currently looking for an experienced HGV/Beavertail Driver to join our team.
The HGV/Beavertail Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of plant, machinery, and equipment to and from project sites while ensuring full compliance with road traffic legislation, company policies, and health and safety procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate up to a 26 Ton 6x4 HGV Beavertail Loader with Crane.
Transport plant, machinery, equipment, and materials to various project locations.
Load and unload equipment safely using the vehicle-mounted crane.
Carry out daily vehicle and crane safety inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported in accordance with legal requirements.
Complete all required delivery documentation and vehicle records accurately.
Adhere to company health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times.
Maintain the vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition.
Communicate effectively with site teams, supervisors, and logistics personnel.
Represent GMC Utilities Group professionally while working on customer and project sites.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
Previous experience working within the civil engineering sector (ideally utilities) or a similar construction-related industry.
Full, clean Irish HGV driving licence appropriate for the vehicle class.
Valid HIAB/Loader Crane Operator Certificate
All required Driver CPCs must be current and up to date.
Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
Strong understanding of safe loading, unloading, and transport practices.
Good spoken and written English.
Excellent awareness of health and safety requirements.
Reliable, professional, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Safe Pass and other relevant site certifications would be an advantage.
