The Household Manager is responsible for the smooth day-to-day administration and operation of the household department. This role ensures staff are effectively managed, household standards are maintained, supplies are consistently available, and all operational systems run efficiently. The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain weekly staff rosters.
- Maintain a high standard of infection control throughout the nursing home.
- Clean and disinfectant all areas of the nursing home to a high standard.
- Coordinate annual leave, sick leave, and shift coverage.
- Monitor staffing levels and recommend adjustments where required.
- Communicate schedules and operational updates to the household team.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new household staff.
Household Administration
- Maintain household records, policies, and operational documentation.
- Ensure compliance with household procedures and health & safety requirements.
Audits & Quality Control
- Conduct regular household audits to ensure cleanliness, organisation, and presentation standards.
- Complete compliance and operational checklists.
- Monitor equipment and report maintenance requirements.
- Follow up on corrective actions arising from audits.
- Produce audit reports for management.
Inventory & Ordering
- Conduct monthly inventory counts of household supplies.
- Prepare monthly ordering lists based on stock levels and usage.
- Ensure appropriate storage and stock rotation.
Operational Coordination
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors.
- Coordinate deliveries and verify orders.
- Ensure household equipment is maintained and serviced.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
