Gary's Pet World is an independent pet store that has been trading in Letterkenny for 33 years. We are looking for a hands on Shop Manager to run the store day to day.
Please read this before applying. This is a physically demanding job. You will be on your feet all day, lifting 20kg bags of feed, unloading deliveries, cleaning and restocking. If you are looking for a desk based management role, this is not it.
What you will be doing
- Running the shop floor day to day and leading a small team
- Rostering, staff training and holiday cover
- Stock ordering, goods in, merchandising and stock control
- Cash handling, banking and daily reporting
- Animal welfare and livestock standards on site
- Driving sales, promotions and customer service standards
- Opening and closing the store
What we are looking for
- Retail supervisory or management experience is essential. General retail is fine, you do not need a pet background
- Comfortable with the physical side of the job
- Confident leading a team and dealing with customers face to face
- Good with stock, numbers and basic retail systems
- Available to work weekends and late openings on a rota
- Pet or animal knowledge is a bonus, we will train the right person
