Project Procurement Manager (Rail) – Cork & Derby
Duration: Minimum 12 months
Locations: Cork (Ireland)
Working Pattern: 5 days per week (site-based, with some travel)
Day Rate: Negotiable (DOE)
Purpose of the Role
Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise as a Project Procurement Manager within a cutting-edge field in the Rail industry.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement & Supply Chain, you will work alongside a highly motivated and experienced procurement team focused on delivering best-in-class performance. You will play a key role in ensuring robust and competitive tender processes, effective cost management, and adherence to project schedules.
While we offer flexibility, the role will require occasional travel, including international stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
As a core member of the bid and project delivery team, you will support major opportunities and live projects across the portfolio.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring alignment between Procurement Commodity Strategies and Tenders/Bids
- Managing Quality, Cost, Delivery & Technology (QCDT) commitments across tenders and projects
- Co-managing Material Work Packages alongside supply chain representatives
- Developing strong networks across Tender & Project organisations to anticipate sourcing needs
- Leading procurement activities across both Direct and Indirect commodities
- Piloting all sourcing activities across tenders and project execution
- Managing interfaces between Sourcing and Project Work Package Owners (Engineering, Material Controllers, Installation Teams)
- Ensuring Make-or-Buy decisions are agreed and formalised across all stakeholders
- Overseeing supply chain and logistics deliverables
- Defining and executing procurement strategies aligned with commodity strategies
- Managing all procurement requests at country level (Direct & Indirect)
- Identifying, managing, and mitigating procurement risks across tenders and project delivery
- Maintaining accurate sourcing data within systems such as SAP, SOL, ALTeS, eProcurement, and ASIP
What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Strong experience in procurement/sourcing of goods and services
- Proven experience within major projects, ideally in rail, infrastructure, or engineering environments
- Solid understanding of ERP systems and data-driven procurement
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in procurement tools and digital sourcing platforms
