We are currently seeking a highly organised and capable Specialist Construction Support Administrator to join our team on a part-time basis.
The Role
This is a varied role providing specialist administrative, customer service, sales and technical support across several areas of the business.
The successful candidate will work closely with the company director and wider team and will regularly deal with homeowners, building contractors, suppliers, County Councils, consultants and other construction professionals.
The position will involve a combination of customer support, construction product sales, grant administration, Health & Safety documentation and general project administration.
The role would particularly suit someone who already has experience or knowledge of the construction or Health & Safety industry, or somebody who wishes to develop further practical experience within these sectors.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Construction Product Sales
Responsibilities will include:
- Responding to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
- Dealing with homeowners, builders and contractors regarding steel lintels, structural steel and specialist construction products.
- Assisting customers with product enquiries.
- Gathering the information required to prepare quotations.
- Preparing and following up on quotations.
- Following up on outstanding sales enquiries.
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors and customers regarding orders.
- Coordinating information relating to deliveries where required.
- Maintaining accurate customer and sales records.
- Developing positive working relationships with existing and potential customers.
Grant Application Support
The role will involve supporting clients with property grant applications, particularly the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.
Duties may include:
- Liaising with homeowners regarding their grant applications.
- Gathering and reviewing supporting documentation from clients.
- Working through application checklists and ensuring required documentation is available.
- Preparing administrative sections of grant application packages.
- Assisting with supporting letters, costings and documentation.
- Following up with clients for outstanding information.
- Liaising directly with County Councils and relevant local authority departments.
- Responding to requests for additional information from local authorities.
- Maintaining records of grant applications, correspondence and progress.
- Tracking applications and outstanding actions.
- Assisting clients throughout the application and claim process.
Health & Safety Administration
The successful candidate will provide administrative and documentation support across the Health & Safety side of the business.
This may include:
- Preparing and updating Risk Assessments.
- Preparing and updating Method Statements.
- Assisting with RAMS documentation.
- Reviewing contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Preparing contractor Health & Safety documentation.
- Assisting with Construction Stage Safety and Health Plans.
- Assisting with Preliminary Safety and Health Plans.
- Maintaining Health & Safety files.
- Maintaining contractor records and registers.
- Maintaining training, certification and plant documentation.
- Assisting with site inspection documentation.
- Preparing Health & Safety checklists and forms.
- Assisting with PSCS-related administration.
- Tracking outstanding Health & Safety documentation from contractors.
- Ensuring documentation is correctly filed and maintained.
Training and guidance will be provided where required.
General Project & Technical Administration
The role will also include general technical and project administration, including:
- Preparing and formatting professional reports, letters and project documentation.
- Maintaining electronic project files.
- Updating project trackers, spreadsheets and registers.
- Communicating with clients, contractors, consultants and local authorities.
- Following up on outstanding project information.
- Assisting with quotations and project administration.
- Supporting the preparation of construction costings and related documentation.
- Assisting with survey and inspection documentation.
- Maintaining accurate records across multiple active projects.
- Assisting with document control.
- Ensuring documents are correctly named, filed and issued.
- Providing general administrative support to the company director and wider team.
Site-Based Duties
The role will be predominantly office-based; however, there may occasionally be a requirement to attend construction sites or properties.
Site-based duties may include:
- Assisting with Health & Safety inspections.
- Assisting with site documentation.
- Taking photographs and maintaining photographic records.
- Recording information during inspections.
- Reviewing site registers and documentation.
- Liaising with contractors and clients on site.
- Assisting with general site administration.
Appropriate instruction and training will be provided where required.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time position of approximately two to three working days per week.
The role is based in the Curran Building Solutions office.
This is not a hybrid role and is not a work-from-home position.
The successful candidate must therefore be available to attend the office for their agreed working days.
Occasional travel to construction sites or client properties may also be required.
Candidate Profile
Construction or Health & Safety experience would be highly beneficial for this position; however, we are open to candidates from a number of backgrounds who have the right organisational skills, attitude and willingness to learn.
This role may particularly suit:
- Someone with previous experience working within the construction, engineering, building materials or Health & Safety industry who is seeking a part-time position.
- An experienced construction or Health & Safety professional who may be looking to reduce their working hours or transition from full-time employment into part-time work, while continuing to use their existing industry knowledge and experience.
- A third- or fourth-year student studying construction, civil engineering, quantity surveying, building surveying, architectural technology, Health & Safety or another related discipline who has reduced college contact hours and wishes to gain valuable practical industry experience alongside their studies.
- Someone with experience in construction administration, project support, document control, building materials sales, technical administration or local authority work who is looking for a varied part-time role.

Pay: €15.00-€17.00 per hour
