Ready to Take the Next Step in Your Health and Safety Career?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Health & Safety Officer to join our Team in Taconic International Limited, Mullingar, at an exciting point in our journey.
Our Health & Safety systems are well-established and fully functional, but we’re ready to move them to the next level. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience who wants more responsibility, greater ownership, and the chance to make a real impact.
You’ll join a small, supportive, EH&S Team that is embracing positive change and continuous improvement. If you’re someone who enjoys identifying better ways of working, influencing people, and bringing fresh ideas to the table, we’d love to hear from you.
Why Join Us?
This is more than a compliance role – this is an opportunity to help shape the future of Health and Safety within our business. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, introduce improvements, and develop professionally, while working alongside experienced colleagues who value new ideas and continuous improvement.
In return, we offer:
· Full-time, permanent contract.
· A competitive salary.
· Company pension scheme.
· 39 hour working week, with an early finish on Fridays.
· 22 days annual leave, plus paid time off on public holidays, (32 paid days off per year).
· Flexi-time system.
· Bike To Work Scheme.
· Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
· Opportunities for further training and development.
About The Job:
Reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, you’ll take ownership of our day-to-day Health and Safety activities while helping to modernise and continuously improve our Health and Safety Management System. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure compliance, promote a positive safety culture, and help drive meaningful improvements throughout our manufacturing operations.
This will be a varied role, where no two days will be the same. Examples of duties and responsibilities include, (but are not limited to):
· Working with the EHS Manager to implement and maintain ISO45001.
· Reviewing existing policies, procedures, and documentation, updating them to reflect current best practices and legislative requirements.
· Conducting workplace risk assessments, inspections, audits and accident investigations.
· Monitoring corrective actions and support departments in implementing improvements.
· Designing and delivering Toolbox Talks and other health and safety training, where appropriate.
· Designing and delivering emergency preparedness exercises and ensure emergency evacuation drills are conducted on a regular basis.
· Assisting with contract management and permit-to-work processes.
· Scheduling and participating in safety committee meetings.
· Assisting with implementation of environmental related projects, record keeping, and some testing, (e.g. water sampling).
· Working with colleagues in our US Headquarters and/or colleagues in our sister company in Poland to identify and share best practices.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who has built a solid foundation in Health and Safety, and is now looking for a role where they can genuinely influence how things are done. You’ll definitely have:
· A recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field, with a minimum of two years’ post qualification experience, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or another industrial environment.
· A sound understanding of Irish Health and Safety legislation and its practical application.
· Excellent written and spoken English.
· Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
· Confidence communicating with colleagues at all levels of the business.
· A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge existing practices constructively.
· The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a small team.
· Authorisation to work in Ireland and the EU.
· It would be great if you have IOSH Membership and a knowledge of ISO45001, but these are not essential.
If you’re looking for a role where your ideas will be welcomed, your contribution will be recognised, and your career can develop, please get in contact with us.
