Your impact
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure projects that leave a lasting legacy. Acting as the critical link between project delivery teams, contractors and stakeholders, you'll ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
From overseeing site activities and supporting NEC contract administration to driving technical excellence and quality assurance, you'll have a direct influence on project outcomes. Your expertise will help keep projects on track, manage risk, uphold safety standards and ensure successful delivery from construction through to commissioning and handover.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure and engineering projects. Working closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary delivery teams, you will provide technical oversight, site supervision, NEC contract support and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a highly visible, site-based role where you'll collaborate with contractors, consultants, clients and project stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with programme objectives.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide site supervision and technical oversight across construction, testing, commissioning and handover activities
Support Project Managers in delivering projects safely, on schedule and within contractual requirements
Act as NEC Supervisor when delegated, ensuring compliance with NEC contract obligations
Monitor contractor and consultant performance against agreed quality, safety and delivery standards
Review Quality Management Plans, Inspection & Test Plans, risk assessments and method statements
Carry out site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and project procedures
Identify, manage and escalate project risks, non-conformances and performance issues
Support the assessment and management of compensation events and contractual matters
Maintain detailed site records, progress reports and quality documentation
Participate in project reviews, safety tours and continuous improvement initiatives
Build strong working relationships with project teams, contractors, clients and stakeholders
Support integration, testing and commissioning activities to ensure successful project delivery
Here's what you'll need
You'll be a proactive and collaborative engineer who enjoys being close to project delivery and thrives in a fast-paced infrastructure environment.
You'll bring:
Experience in Project Engineering, Site Engineering or Construction Management within major infrastructure, transportation, rail, utilities, tunnelling, civil engineering or comparable projects
Experience working under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
Knowledge of contractor management, site supervision and quality assurance processes
Understanding of claims management, change control and contract administration
Experience monitoring contractor performance against KPIs and project objectives
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Excellent report writing and presentation capabilities
Ability to lead and influence small project teams
A commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental excellence
Familiarity with CEMAR or similar contract management systems
