We are seeking an experienced and motivated Short-Term Mine Design Team Lead to join our Mine Planning and Technical Services section. Reporting to the Mine Planning & Scheduling Team Lead, this role is responsible for leading the short-term mine design function, ensuring the safe, practical, and efficient delivery of mine designs that support weekly, monthly, and quarterly production objectives.
The successful candidate will coordinate a small team of mine design/drill & blast engineers, working closely with Operations, Geotechnical, Geology, Ventilation, Survey and Planning teams.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor the short-term mine design team.

Develop and review short-term mine designs, including development, stoping, services, and infrastructure requirements.

Ensure mine designs comply with geotechnical, ventilation, safety, and operational standards (SOPs) and current legislation

Collaborate with operations and line manager to identify and resolve planning constraints and production risks.

Support the prioritisation of development and production activities to maximise resource utilisation.

Monitor compliance and investigate variances between planned and actual performance including stope reconciliation

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mine design standards, and drill & blast design.

Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly planning reviews and production reporting.
Experience and Qualifications:

Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Minimum 5 years' experience in underground hard rock mining.

Demonstrated experience in mine planning and drill & blast design.
-
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.

Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, preferably longhole open stoping.

Experience using modern mine planning software.

Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Skills and Capabilities:

Experience with modern mine planning and geology software, preferably Deswik and Leapfrog

Knowledge and experience with underground mining methods longhole open stoping and room & pillar mining, an asset.

Ability to deliver high-quality work in a high pace environment

Strong interpersonal skills – an ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

Fluency in the English language (C1), both written and spoken

This role will be on a normal workweek 37.5-hours, Monday to Friday
