Role Overview
As a Deboxing Department General Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient unloading, deboxing, inspection, and preparation of raw materials for processing. This is a physically demanding role requiring regular manual handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials throughout the shift.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the flow of materials into production while ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, housekeeping, and waste management are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
· Receive, unload, and debox incoming raw materials in accordance with production schedules and procedures.
· Inspect materials for quality, contamination, or damage and report any issues to supervisors.
· Prepare and transfer materials to designated production areas.
· Operate cardboard and plastic baling equipment safely and efficiently.
· Segregate, process, and dispose of waste materials in line with company procedures and environmental standards.
· Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of baling equipment and associated machinery.
· Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the department.
· Clean and sanitise equipment, workstations, storage areas, floors, walkways, and operational areas as required.
· Ensure all work areas remain safe, tidy, organised, and free from hazards.
· Accurately complete production, waste management, and traceability documentation.
· Support stock rotation and inventory control processes where required.
· Follow all company Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Hygiene procedures.
· Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficient site operations.
· Assist with additional duties as directed by supervisors to support production requirements.
Requirements
· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment involving regular lifting, carrying, and manual handling activities.
· Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
· Good attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or processing environment is desirable but not essential.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Positive attitude towards workplace safety and continuous improvement.
· Flexibility to work shift patterns and overtime when required.
· Previous experience operating baling equipment or material handling equipment would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided.
