Maintenance Technician
Oakpark Foods is a leading producer of retail turkey, pork and bacon products for the Irish and UK markets. We have two best in class production facilities, one in Clonmel and one in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. This position will primarily be based in Cahir. We are a family owned business which operates to the highest international standards of food production.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will have support from a wider team and benefit from a close working relationship with other key functions in the organisation.

Core Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the role are summarised below and are subject to change according to business needs:
- Conduct testing on malfunctioning equipment to identify the root cause of malfunctions.
- Respond to machine breakdowns in a timely manner and leave all work areas safe, clean and ready for production. Ensure all work is carried out to a high specification.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Working as part of a team and individually to identify and resolve systematic equipment issues.
- Be part of the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance system.
- At times you may need manage labour hours of other members of the maintenance team, also including subcontractors.
- Liaising with builders, foremen and project managers during contract works.
- Ordering and receiving of materials – ensure they are signed for when they arrive on site. All parts must be ordered using the company purchasing ordering system.
- Completion of QA documentation as required to ensure our Food Safety Standards are always kept live.
- Get a very good in depth understanding of all equipment on site – plan around the training of this will be presented to the successful candidate. May be required to undergo additional training off site.
- Account for all daily hours worked and break out between reactive and preventative works through our management system.
- Get involved in continuous improvement projects – this will involve working in a team with members from other departments.
- May be required to work in other sites within the company/group.
The Candidate
This position requires a “can do attitude” and a passion for achievement. A positive approach will be essential along with excellent problem-solving skills and an abundance of drive and determination.
The successful applicant will possess:
- A relevant accredited multi skilled qualification or equivalent technical certification in Electrical or Mechanical engineering will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field/similar role.
- Strong verbal & written communication, and attention to detail.
- Highly motivated, energetic and a self-starter.
- Methodical, analytical and enthusiastic approach to work with good attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Excellent communicator building effective relationships in a team environment, both within the Oakpark team and with our suppliers/contractors.
- Excellent initiative and pro-active approach to work.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Basic IT skills (emails, word, excel).
This role will involve some shift work (days/evenings/nights) and applicants are expected to be fully flexible regarding this requirement.
