Job Description:
The General Operative is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient manufacture of precast concrete flooring products. The role involves assisting with the preparation, production, finishing, handling, and storage of precast concrete units while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the manufacture of precast concrete floor units in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
- Prepare production beds, moulds, and equipment before casting operations.
- Assist with placing reinforcement, strands, inserts, and other components as required.
- Pour, level, and finish concrete using approved methods and equipment.
- Remove moulds and assist with the safe lifting, moving, and storage of finished products.
- Operate production machinery and hand tools safely following appropriate training and authorisation.
- Carry out routine cleaning of equipment, production areas, and workstations.
- Perform general labouring duties as directed by the Production Supervisor.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and finished products where required.
- Identify and report damaged equipment, production defects, hazards, or maintenance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve daily production targets.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in precast concrete manufacturing, construction, or a production environment is desirable.
- Experience in operating machinery, such as forklifts, is beneficial.
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to dust and noise.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Requires standing, lifting, and operating heavy machinery for extended periods.
